Theodore Roosevelt NP
The park was beautiful, cold and windy. The animals were close, the Little Missouri River frozen and the flowers don’t bloom in winter. Still it was breathtaking…. I will return some day in spring or summer.
There are no words that can tell the hidden spirit of the wilderness that can reveal its mystery, its melancholy and its charm.

Even with that quote I need to try. I want to explain how at this point in our travels all the doubts about North Dakota in winter disappeared. The endless view, the desolate landscape, the immense quietness brought a long sought peace to my heart. The grieve that had overwhelmed me for a few weeks/ months settled in my heart and although it will never make sense, it made room for wonder and future…. the story of Theodore Roosevelt, defintily gave me a nudge.
Enchanted Highway
We always look for oddities along the way and my co-worker told me about this stretch of road. The metal sculpture where build/ welded by a local teacher to attract more tourist to his town. We drove the highway, so it seems to work, and the sunset gave it just a bit more charm.
