The Naples Pier, first erected in 1888, is the city’s symbol, and is a popular fishing and dolphin-spotting destination.
One a warm summer day the beaches will be crowded and the sunset must be beautiful. We just weren’t that lucky today, actually the warmth was completely missing and the clouds prevented the sun from setting.
Well, I know it is technically not possible and it became dark, so the sun must have moved on. But it raises the question: “Does the sun set if you can’t see the sunset?”
Before the Pier
Earlier that day Jennifer and Leo had us over for Brunch with authentic Columbian/Venezuelan food. And some family time at their apartment. I enjoyed it a lot, definitely with the weather being way colder then Naples weather should be.
Right when Leo and I were ready to settle in and bond some more, preferably over ice-cream and wine. Gloria wanted to visit this new park Naples had opened in 2019. It ended up to be the perfect way to spend a social-distance social activity.
We took a stroll around this beautiful riverfront park and crossed the Gordon River over a sturdy bridge. I don’t like crossing water, so the “sturdy” is an important detail. The bridge didn’t squeak and looked new, but it moved (as bridges should) and you could see the water through it. Call me brave, please…. I went back and fourth over this.
Any way, the park has a very modern look to it with a lot elevations and bends and play areas. So it opens a new view with every path you take and keeps surprising. It has rollerblading and skateboard opportunities and is definitely build with the people and youth in mind. I became a fan and since I got to bring the great company from the couch it was that more relaxing.
And to end the day
We went for dinner in a wonderful tasteful, Italian restaurant. This was absolutely the perfect ending, and I enjoyed my weekend in Naples. Meeting new friends, and hoping to see them soon again.
