Vizcaya

I never had been to Vizcaya, a well know attraction in Miami, but I wasn’t sure, since it was a museum, if it was my kind of attraction. Oh boy, was I wrong. It was gorgeous to see, and relaxing to walk the garden. so, a tip to future visitors: “DO NOT SKIP”.

The Vizcaya main house was build with the Mediterranean architecture in mind. It has a great courtyard and beautiful detailed indoor architecture.

The European-inspired gardens have a landscape designed as a series of rooms. The central space is dominated by low hedges in a geometric arrangement. Around that are a secret garden, the upstairs secluded area, water gardens, a maze,…. on the other side of the house is the pool and the orchid atrium. Amazing peaceful gardens, even with all the tourists around.

Miami South Beach

After conquering some traffic we ended in the beautiful Art Deco South Beach for the late evening and lights coming on adding to the mood. The drive out of there took another 2 hours. But staying the night adds dollars. So make wise choices.
